Sleep Saving Secret Weapon Is Released!!

SLAM!! SLAM!! Yes this sound bothers everyone. Imagine, your baby has just fallen asleep and you are trying to get out of the room without making noise, is that easy, or is it always challenging. We have problems with door noise, it is even worth when a baby is sleeping as babies can be really light sleepers, it would be even more difficult to handle when there are new parents with no experience and just got their baby.

That is why it is important to prevent undesirable noises and slamming doors that can wake up anybody, or even can injure children’s fingers. The solution is door muff/silencer or door latches. This is a must to have for families with babies and kids.

Door Silencer would allow you to put your sleeping baby to bed with no fear, because there is no noise when you close or open the door. it is also common that children lock themselves in the room and parents can not open the room, door silencer would also eliminate this issue.

Let's listen to one of the Door muffer producers, they call this product Latchy Catchy;

"DIY"

by Muslin & Merlot

If you would like to make the Door muffler yourself, here is the good guide. Simply you can use rubber band, however it does not look as good as Door mufflers and its performance is not the same.

Here is what you would need to make your Mufflers:

Free printable template

2 Ponytail holders

Cotton fabric, enough for the outer template x 2

Felt, enough for the inner template

Use the template to cut out two outer template shapes. The beveled edge template was used in the pictures but I suggest you start with the curved edge. It's much easier to work with. The outer shapes on the template have tabs at the top. These tabs are a reminder to keep one side unsewn until you're ready to topstitch.

Place one shape, right side up. Place a ponytail holder on each end of the shape. Place the second shape, right side down.

Pin the ponytail holders into the shape. Less than one third of each ponytail holder length should be poking out.

Sew using a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Leave an open space so you can flip the whole thing inside-out.

Snip off ponytail holders so that the edges line up with the rest of the muffler. Turn the whole thing inside-out.

Use a point turner or chopstick to push out the curves and corners. Iron.

Place the felt shape inside. Fold in the tabs.

Topstitch with a 1/4 inch seam allowance.

Place the ponytail holders around the door knobs.
