1. Start by understanding the divisions between 1 inch and 2 inches. The largest division is half an inch (1/2).
2. The next division breaks the inch into fourths (1/4), providing four segments: 0, 1/4, 1/2 (or 2/4 simplified), 3/4, and 1 inch.
3. Further divisions include 1/8 and 1/16. Divide the 1/4-inch sections in half to reach the 1/8 line, yielding eight segments. The smallest division is 1/16, with sixteen individual lines each representing 1/16 of an inch.
